Board of Trustees
The Governing Board of the Gold Trail Union School District welcomes you to its web pages. The Governing Board, commonly called the Board of Trustees, is the elected policy-making body of a 545 K-8 student, 60 employee public education system within the county of El Dorado, encompassing Coloma, Lotus and portions of Placerville, California. The Board’s primary responsibility is to ensure that every student served by the District is given the opportunity to be well educated and demonstrate high academic achievement.
The Board, within these pages, seeks to provide the public with information about the public school system goals, objectives and activities, including its meetings, Bond Oversight Committee and other events affecting education within our District. The Board hopes that you will visit these pages often, utilize the information provided, and let it hear from you on K-8 education and related issues including but not limited to how the contents of these pages may be improved to benefit you.
Board Members
There are five members on the Gold Trail Union School District Board. Members’ terms are four years and are staggered so no more than three members are elected in any one election.

Regular Meetings
The Board of Trustees holds one Regular meeting on the second Thursday of each month at Gold Trail School, starting at 6:00 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) with a public comment session.
Public Comment Sessions
The Board holds public comment sessions, as a minimum at each of its Regular and Special Meetings, to listen to comments about student achievement, budget policy or matters currently under consideration by the Board.

Do you attend a District Board meeting and ever wonder just what the Trustees are referring to while in discussion? In addition to the agenda that is distributed to all families each month, the Trustees also receive a more detailed document called the Background along with substantiating documents that allow for the Board to make informed, knowledgeable decisions. The entire compilation usually ranges from 100-400 pages.

Board Policies, Administrative Regulations and Board Bylaws
Board Policies, Administrative Regulations and Board Bylaws are crafted by the Board with recommendations by Administration, staff and the community. Once adopted by the Board for implementation, Administration uses these documents as a guide. District Boundaries
School district in El Dorado County are shaped very irregularly which makes it very confusing to ascertain parcel locations in respect to outer perimeters. The El Dorado County Surveyor has given the public easy access to its very detailed and precise survey map of the Gold Trail Union School District and its surrounding area.
